07 Jul First shoot with AF101
A couple of weeks ago I was over in West Ealing shooting some interviews on the Panasonic AF101.
I was impressed with this camera and I enjoyed being able to swap the lenses from my own small Panasonic GF1. The picture was good, the controls were intuitive except for the fact it took me a while to find the power switch but after that it all fell in-line with what you’d expect from a camera of this calibre.
The only thing that was a possible let down was the screen. I appreciate that it may have been an isolated incident on that particular unit but i started to see distorting lines going across the small screen which frightened the life out of me. That’s not what you want to see when you’re about to start a three way interview. I had to shoot a few seconds of footage and pull the card out and onto the Macbook to check if it was the sensor which it wasn’t so all was well.
Having shot the last several projects on a 7D it was really nice not to have to jump through the hoops of syncing sound recorded off a separate device.
I look forward to the next time I hire one of these!
